35 weeks and counting...

This photo was actually taken 3 months ago, but I'm afraid I wouldn't fit in the frame of a current picture. :) So we are finally seeing the light at the end of the tunnel. It won't be long now, Lord permitting, until our little bundle of joy changes our lives. We are VERY excited, yet sober-minded. Shepherding a child is a very tall order, one we could never fulfill apart from God's enabling. We are certain that He will guide and carry us every humbling step of the way!

Happy Birthday to my hubby!

We celebrated 31 years of my husband's life yesterday and even though it was low-key (due to me being on strict bed rest) we managed to enjoy our quiet day together. Thanks to my mom, we were able to start off with some yummy flapjacks, along with a nice omelet. Then we treated ourselves to some Chinese take away, and then Ms. Holly Drew brought us a nice Bobotie! On top of all of that amazing food, our Tio Nando brought over a mean Mississippi mud pie that was to die for...muah! It was all very delicious and we felt so loved! Thanks to all...we love you guys! God is sooo good!

Considering it all joy!

Lonngren and I have surely been tested this summer! First, from the loss of our twins, and second, from the cranial surgery that my hubby just had (see pic above of our precious nephews and niece who took the time to make us feel extra special). After experiencing these things we can truly say that God has been faithful. He is the only one who could have carried us through. Sure, Lonngren has supported me and I've supported him, which has only strengthened our marriage, but our gracious God is the one who has given us the strength to endure.

In the book of James, James writes, "Consider it all joy, my brethren, when you encounter various trials, knowing that the testing of your faith produces endurance. And let endurance have its perfect result, so that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing." We know that we will never be perfect on this earth, but we can desire holiness and be refined, like a work in progress. God chips away at us so that we can look more and more like Jesus, His Son.

That is just one example of Christ's love for us. At first glance it may appear evil or cruel, but the reality is that He does it because He cares for and loves His children. It has been a blessing to be the recipients of this love. We have the added privilege of witnessing His glory, which is the ultimate objective, shine in a way that we hadn't seen before. We wouldn't trade these rich lessons for anything. To Him be the glory!

Another jam-packed semester has finally come to an end. I thank God for the blessing my wife has been to me during this stressful time. I also thank Him for blessing us with twins who we will be expecting by the end of October. Seminary has gone so quickly, it makes one think how quick life goes. When I got here in the US I was still a single man and now I will be the father of twins. Anna and I know that God will sustain us through this period ahead and we trust in His leadership over our lives. We live by the daily grace He grants us to handle each day's new challenges with Him by our side. He makes this possible by placing special brothers and sisters by our side who are also in His family. We want to give a special thanks to mama Angie who came to stay with us for a month to help Anna through the first trimester of her pregnancy. She helped with cooking and cleaning: Those things that would have been impossible to get to at that specific time of my semester and Anna's pregnancy.
Glory be to God for all His wonderful gifts, but most of all, the gift of Himself.

The Distaff

So I was recently asked to write a small article for The Distaff (the Seminary Wives Newsletter/Journal). The topic was on how the Lord brought Lonngren and I together. I REALLY enjoyed writing it and was once again reminded of God's great faithfulness and amazing sovereignty! I've included the link to the article below. Enjoy! :)
